Seems that 20 mpg is the norm for 90% of everyone's stop and go driving.

For some of the others that have posted.. Please read on.... Its a heavy car its not a honda civic if you guys wanted a civics milage you should have bought a civic. You bought a car that is shaped like a brick, is porky @3400lbs and you expect 30mpg out of it? Not gonna happen.. And to anyone who says "If I had known about the milage?" Sorry you didn't do your research.. Blame yourself not anyone else. Its been out of almost 10years and this site a bunch of others have been around just as long.. The info is out there.. Sorry guys just really tired of people whining about stuff they had total control over..

That's 3930 lbs, and I only got 23 mpg with cruise set at 75. Stop and go I get 20...

2006 Limited G Automatic non-turbo:
Just got back from a 2000 mile round trip mostly interstate and with an average speed of 73mph got 26+ mpg. Usual in town mpg is 18-20.5 using regular gas, and about 2 mpg lower in the winter. I did notice a small improvement in mileage after I hit 25K on the odometer in the PT. After the first few weeks of ownership I learned to never use E10 blended gas in this beast. It really kills the gas mileage - knocks 2-3mpg off. Totally not worth the dime savings per gallon. Last year I was on vacation and ended up in an area where they only had E10 gas (other pumps were dry) and sure enough, lousy mileage until I burned that tankload off. |

Yep same thing happens to the turbo cars who don't run premium in them.. You save on the gallon price but you pay so much more in lack of performance.. I did the math once it was less than medium latte at Starbucks. So buy a drip and feed it the good stuff.. One things I do on road trips is pack a couple bottles of octane booster, if you are in a place with sketchy fuel, boost it, it should help even out until you get to a big city.

Wondering if anyone has got a
"Performance Speed Chip Fuel Saver" for the PT Cruiser. It claims to increase MPG by up to 15, while also increasing horsepower??? Saw it on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/PERFORMANCE-SPEED-CHIP-FUEL-SAVER-CHRYSLER-PT-CRUISER_W0QQitemZ120442945577QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMo tors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c0af580 29&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2 %7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1215%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293 %3A1%7C294%3A50 Thanks

Performance chips are only really good if you have done major work to the motor such as a cam. Last edited by Wakinglife213; 01 Jul 2009 at 05:39 pm. |

+50% MPG increase for less than than 10$ (shipping included), just think about it by yourself 30 seconds...yes, spin that squirrel wheel a bit... try to figure it out on your own... Does it make sense to you now? I'm always amazed everytime I see this on Ebay. I'm like "what, they still TRY to sell this kind of junk?" After reading this, I understand why...'cause it seems to be a worthwhile "try" after all. How many guys like him didn't bother to ask on a forum before purchasing it? ...we're in 2009...wow...
