RKEM

RKEM....What does this module control and can I disconnect it without interuppting any daily usage besides the power locks and security (don't really need these anyway)? Too many weird things happening even with Fuse 3 taken out...lock chatter, dash chatter with key in ignition, alarm being engaged when manually locking doors (thing went off when I used key to get in), interior light on when getting into car. Would buy new one but can't seem to locate one online and don't feel like paying dealer cost. Definitely don't want a used one, seeming most have had troubles with this.

Just guessing, but I think the computer will throw a code if you disconnect it and you'll keep seeing the fault light on your dash. It might be different on yours than my 2001, but the number #10 fuse in the interior fuse box is the fuse for the RKEM. Find which fuse it is in yours and pull it out and see if you can go along without it.

Great.....mine also is a 2001, should be the same...Nothing like hereing the dash click, click, click as I'm sitting at a red light. Once I pull the fuse I think it's time to check the PL buttons. As always thanks for the wisdom. By the way, what all does the RKEM affect?

Hmm...Fuse 10 is indeed the RKEM, I'm thinking the RKEM also acts as a kill switch. Start the bugger up, she dies.....Anyone know a good site to find one of these modules? Google's not pulling anything up for me.

I did a search and found nothing but people asking question about the RKEM, nobody selling one. Looks like the dealer for a new one or a salvage yard for a used one.
