Yes, it's the same switch. Controls turn signals, high and low beam headlights and fog lights plus interior lights.

You can do it yourself and save some money, also if you shop around you should be able to pick it up a little cheaper than $100. If you have fog lights, make sure you order the multi-function switch that controls them. You can buy it with and without the fog light control.

..and do not forget to change the "blinker" relay as the new one will NOT come with one already installed. It just pulls out from the old one and replaces on the new one.

If you have the standard fog lights from the factory, the running lights or headlights must be activated in order to turn ON the fog lights. Once the running or headlights are ON, pull out the end of the multi-function stalk (pull away from the steering column). A little green light will come on in one of the dials to show that the fog lights are lit.

Please get yourself an owners manual to show you how to operate your vehicle.

I am going through the same thing here. Luckily I am still under my 3/36,000 warranty. The part is back ordered until the middle of June! (A month and a half). Also on top of it, my camshaft sensor is freaking out, and it's a long story but I basically have to get towed by Chrysler back to the dealership because they can't fix it under warranty without the codes popping up (I had to clear them with my dad's scan tool in order to start my car to get it to the dealership. Even though I wrote the codes, its not good enough! I have the free towing # of anyone needs it).

Angry Re: Fog lights won't turn off...

I've had two of these switches go bad on my 2001 PTCruiser ...

Replaced the original switch with a new one a couple years ago, but decided after 2 failures that this is a defective part design/manufacture and will not pay that money again.

I pulled fuse #8 (nothing else seems affected) and just live with it.

I really feel this is worthy of a recall on the part of Chrysler ...

You guys and your recalls. Have you ever seen a recall that didn't have something to do with safety? Yea, there might be something out there if thousands or hundreds of thousands of cars are affected but a plastic switch that turns on the fog lights? Besides, there's thousands of us that never had a problem with the switch, and I use the lights all the time.

Members asking for recalls because their front wheel bearing wear out or their dashboard cracks. I started a thread on those that have never had the wheel bearings replaced and sure enough, loads of positive reply's, just as many, if not more, than the owners that had to replace theirs.

Recalls on the PT that I know of: child safety seats holders, gas line rubbing on the A/C lines, power steering lines rubbing on the transaxle, doughnut ring on the gas tank that lets gas come out during a rollover .....all to do with safety.

Hi!

Just wanted to add my name to the rolls of PTs with this problem. I found this forum by searching for solutions and I have to say the threads here have been very helpful.

When I first noticed it, I ran thru all the functions of the switch and realized that the fog lights would turn off when the high beams or left signal were on. So, I was parking my car with the turn signal on for a while... that lasted until the one time I forgot and I drained the battery.

After that, I pulled the fuse since I never really use the fog lights anyway.

Took it to the dealer today for some other stuff, and I was quoted $280 to replace the switch (I think it was $180 for the part, $100 for the labor). I declined the repair.

So, I'll be driving around with the fuse pulled until I can locate the part myself. Any hints on where I can find it <$100? A google search for part number 05073049AB comes up with lots of help threads like this one, but no part sales.

Thanks,

Hi,

Try RockAuto Auto Parts I'm pretty sure I saw some multi-function switches for a decent price. Put in all the relevant information about your car and do a search for switches. If you find one make sure it's for your particular PT and it says "w/foglights" because you can buy the stalk for the PT's without fogs.
