Any one tried this yet,If you don't like the mpg your getting in your present vehicle, pick a vehicle you would purchace, not just to save mpg but one you would actually like to own and drive.I compared my 2006 Gt convert and came out not really saving anything ,a couple of bucks per 100km and I would have ad to spend 10,000 + dollars more on the price of the car to get that mpg savings.

Yeah, I noticed something odd whilst leafing through a copy of Motor Trend today: a new Corvette gets better mileage than a PT Cruiser.

Is is horrible....Only other thing is that I wish I had a manual. This is the perfect little buzzer for manual, lots of fun. I've been considering trading in the automatic for a manual...This is leading to a different topic. My bad. Suppose I'll start one. Happy 'Cruisin'

I finished off my first tank of gas yesterday after disconnecting the battery. The on-board display read 14 something mpg but the actual math came out to nearly 18. I'd still love to have higher of course, but that was a tank of 85% city driving (in a city that is currently exceedingly hot and has lots of hills) and 18 is a hell of a lot better than 14 or 15.

Just filled up, 28.26mpg. WooHoo! That's in my '03 base model with 5 speed, K&N filter, Mobil One, new platinums and wires at about 50,000 or so. Current mileage is 66,987. It does help that I don't have stop and go traffic out here in the boonies. Half of that tank was in town running around, the rest commuting to work.
I'm still looking at trading for a GT, even with a automatic, my last one(05)got 17-19 in town, a best of 29 or so on the highway. No way will I take a NA with automatic. Wonder what a turbo lite with automatic gets? |

2004 na automatic with 103k miles. Drove down to Cali from Oregon. Driving between 55 and 80 mph we averaged 28.5 mpg.

Bottom line...get a stickshift.
stop/go heavy traffic and some highway, I get about 22mpg. I coast in neutral whenever I can and shift sooner if I don't need to accelerate fast or going downhill. 4-cog automatic is so...'80s. Should have at least a 5-cog ('90s) if not a modern 6-cog ('00s).
