There are no real set in stone specs for the bolts. Around 20 ft lbs is in the right range. Also you will need pookie. There is no pan gasket. Pookie is silicone sealer. Make sure it is ATF resistant. Also a if you have access to compressed air then after you get the pan off blow some air into the differential area. It will blow out some of the fluid in the diff area and makes it MUCH easier to get the pan to seal. Other wise you have to fight with a slow drip that will mess up the sealing surface.

I'm a mechanic and service these all the time.
Get a can of Brake Clean... Get "right Stuff" sealant in the "cheese wiz" can.... Clean away ALL old sealer and spray trans 'innards' as well as the pan edges with brake clean.(leaves no residue and is safe) Apply "Right stuff" to edges of pan and bolt up immediately.TIGHT...but not TOO tight! Let set an hour or two b/f filling with fluid. (around 4 quarts)drive and double check fluid level.

hey thanks guys, i got a rubber type gasket with the new filter, do i still need to use sealant with this gasket? i dont have access to compressed air or anything, but i wont to get this done right so i dont have to do it again. when i put the pan on and i use the gasket that came witht the filter is there a good rule of thum in case i dont have a torque wrench? hope to borrow one from work so i can tighten the bolts and not over tighten.

If it came with a gasket use that by itself , no sealer.
And I would tighten the bolts of the pan just to the point it starts to sqeeze the gasket out a bit. Don't overtighten or the gasket may break and leak.
