Cool Re: K & N FIPK, are they overrated....?

Yes, I put anti-sieze on the plugs even though Champion claims it was already on them. The crane wires came with Die electric grease and my friend let me borrow some too.

The throttle body spacer seems to be nothing to important the more I read about it. Yes, I read it spins the air in too.

I was looking for the air system that had the info. I was talking about! Can't find it but was an off brand. It descibed how it worked and explained mostly like the other better known brands but near the end of the description it said the tube inside helps turn the air in a spinning motion into the system. It a mute point anyway since this does not help the PT. Cruiser.

I'll just keep with the better brands and listen to this forum as I have already done. Thanks to you Crewzin and others here my path is straight and narrow!

I know its an old thread, but I'm new. I, too, am interested in the links to the mods to the stock box for use with the K&N filter.
Would it be wise to disconnect the battery so the computer would reset itself to the new parameters after making the mods?

Yes, anytime you change or adjust anything on/in the engine it does not hurt to disconnect the negative cable while you put your tools away (5-10 minutes). I use the "tools" time for mine time.

I do believe your then supposed to drive it in the usual way that you normally drive. Don't baby it, and don't drive it like you stole it ....unless that's your normal way of driving.

The computer will learn the new parameters of any changes you made and also learn the way you you drive. It will do that over a period of time also but taking off the battery cable and taking a drive will do it right away.

Actually, my mechanic told me to "drive it like you stole it" for ramping up performance, but that was with my big 4x4 before the gas prices took off. I'm more interested in efficiency now, so in that case, driving is as per usual would be appropriate.
So, does anyone have link on the air box mods?

Hopefully someone might still have a link or copied those mods to the air box. As I said, I think, it was on PT Cruiser World before that went down for about 6 months. I'll check around to see if they are still there.

Well, I just checked Cruiser World and they don't even have a Search function anymore to look up old threads.

Basically, it's just like I said in the #3 posting in this thread. There's not much more that that. Draw as much cool air in as you can using the stock air box with a drop-in K&N.

How, if at all, would this affect one's warranty?
