Totally agree. I've been saying that for years.

The article I mentioned did point out that air flow improvement was insignificant for noticiable gains except perhaps a high performance car. Thats true of all of the aftermarket filters, not just K&N. However, a CAI can produce some gains. I would doubt its much on a PT.

I used to use K&N's for many years on all my vehicles. Never saw any mpg or performance gains. This was just drop in filters. Most seem to go for the CAI mods.

Ya, kinda cool to dress things up a bit. In the ol' days used to turn the filter cover upside down just for the sound or install a chrome filter housing. Just good fun with our cars.

lol, I'm sure she has some hobbies you find kinda silly too! Every time I spend money on my car for something thats just fun and not really useful, she tells me how many new dresses she's gonna go buy. Well, theres no room in our closet for any of my clothes now!

Wow that is just SOOOOO true I would turn it upside down in our truck to get that "ROAR" my dad would have a fit and turn it back over then i got a eldenbrock round filter and it kinda roared so i guess we compromised

On my punched out to 301 57 Chevy and friends 348 equipped 55 Chevy with 4-barrel's, we used to take the filter completely off to get that roar when we tromped the accelerator pedal. Don't know how we ever got away with that for so long and never sucked anything bad down into the manifold.

Yes they are overrated - much like everything else offered as "performance improvment" parts for the GT.
I went back to the drop-in K&N filter from the FIRK -check my forum on the "noisy" K&N with no power improvement. In addition, I have installed the JET performance chip for GT automatics, a high performance coil, and a Heartthrob Duel Exaust system - and I don't think any of it improved the stock OEM performance. Be vary cautious of any of the so-called performance products.

Joseph,

You just answered a thread that's almost a month old, but besides that, what is meant by "check my forum" in your post? Do you have your own forum??
