I have a 2003 pt cruiser. it suddenly died on me and will turn over but will not start. I got the code P0340 for the camshaft sensor and replaced it. No more codes show up but car still will not start up. Do you think that i should replace the wiring for the camshaft sensor or just take it to a shop to have them run it through the ringer. Or could anyone suggest some things that i may try.

Trace the wires from the sensor back to where they go. Mine shut off with the same code and when the garage checked the wiring harness had come loose letting the wires touch the half shaft and burn through cutting all connections.

crewzin so if i put my ohm meter on the wires for my camshaft position sensor it should register right. and if it doesn't then i can pretty much bet that it's either the wires or the pcm right?

I haven't the faintest idea what the readings should be on the Camshaft wires. That's way beyond what I know about the sensor. Sorry.
