Try doing the brakes yourself, its very simple, I've always done my own brakes and when I bought my cruiser I forgot to check the condition of them, turns out mine were very grooved as well. BTW do yourself a favor and get the more expensive rotors, they are made with a better quality steel and will last longer as well as being more resistant from "grooving" also, get yourself the ceramic brake pads, these are twice as expensive but will be well worth it as they will last for a long time and you will get hardly any brake dust. now, don't forget to bed the brake pads in the rotors (make several hard stops at moderate speed) also, if you have trouble getting the rotors off just use a dead blow and tap the backside.

Lots of little things to remember if you Do-It-Yourself. There's the anti-rattle clip that can be put on wrong so watch how it comes off.....
![]() Not part of the braking system but make sure that each side had a grounding strap coming from the strut tower going over to the frame. It's been known to be missing in quite a few PT's and the results are bad wheel bearings. I know that sound "dumb" but something to do with static electricity not grounding and messing up the wheel bearings. ![]() Back to the brakes, you'll need a medium to large "C" clamp to open the rotors once the old pads are off as the new pads will be a lot thicker and some grease to use on the pins that hold the caliper on.
