In late 05 or 06 Chrylser replaced the cast iron upper manifold with the plastic one which was specifically designed for the Turbo. The plastic manifold from the non-turbo will not work on the turbo model. The new plastic manifold will fit on older models that had the cast iron manifold with just a little work to make it fit.

Talking Re: question about plastic manifold for turbo

Somewhere I read that the newer plastic intake mainfold was suppose to add 10hp to the engine. Can anyone confirm\deny this?
FYI, the older intakes were cast aluminum, not iron!!

The plastic manifold flows better. Is the extra 10 hp just the plastic manifold or was there a software change added, too? I don't know.

So.....we really don't know if (1) there was an increased airflow and (2) if yes to airflow, there was any hp gain?

SRG is cute, spelled aluminium the Cdn\British way, in the US its aluminum - pronunciation is also slightly different. FYI, I previously worked for a major aluminium company.

Don't know if you can believe them but here's a blurb from Haynes (Mopar) speed shop:

NEW for your 2003-04 and up PT Cruiser Turbo! This new Plastic PT Cruiser Intake has been redesigned from the factory aluminum intake to allow for a more even flow of air to each cylinder providing a better air/fuel ratio and increase of up to 8 HP.

Here's the link:
