Time to replace brakes on 2001 PT. willing to invest a little extra in rotors and pads. Can anyone advise what seems to be the best?
Thanks for any help |

I have no idea about brands, but the slotted/drilled rotors look really nice and their performance is (of course) a bit better than the stock, solid rotors.

I have an 05 touring convertible with turbo but without ABS or rear discs, probably the same exact brakes you have. The brakes were not up to what I needed, seemed like I was always using the automatic transmission to help slow down on downhill stops, or from high speed, not good! I swapped the front discs out with Neon SRT4 stock rotors and calipers (Identical to PT GT or turbo with ABS and rear discs, except painted red). The diameter is no bigger around, but the discs are quite a bit thicker, and the calipers are more beefy, and can be identified by word turbo cast into the body. I actually just got a set of used calipers, rotors and pads off ebay, and inspected them and put them on the car as is for a trial. They were a lot better, and were a direct bolt up, been using them for a year now! Advantage is that it's still all Chrysler parts and easy to maintain down the road. A good improvement for a low price. Hoses and everything fit no problem, reuse your hoses and copper washers, must bleed the brakes after you are done. A rear disc swap can also be done, but is more complicated, and probably not necessary. To go that route, get the entire rear axle out of a PT GT to avoid problems with parking brake, etc. You would also have to remove the metering valves from the master cylinder for a rear disc conversion. If you are mostly satisfied with your brakes as is, and just looking for pads and rotors as you say, I usually do my research at tire rack, and have had very good luck with the Brembo OEM replacement rotors, used with ceramic pads, there is a fair selection listed, and a lot of reviews of each product, which makes it pretty easy to make a good choice.
