Default EGR Valve

I very recently purchased an 01 PT Cruiser. The engine light is on and codes P0401. There is a hose in the back from something and upon getting a repair manual I see there is a hose missing from the back of the EGR valve. The vacuum hose to the transducer is ok and the metal tube to the exhaust manifold is there. I can't tell by the manual where the hose goes to from the back of the valve. Can someone help me?

You probably have the same manual with the pictures I have. Yes there's 3 tubes going to the EGR valve. I tried taking a look behind the engine of my 01 but it's too tight to see anything. Lowering my hand and feeling around I can feel that the vacuum line from the top of the valve goes to what feels like a T junction but I can't follow it any further than that. Sorry.

I can tell you that to get to it, you will need to pull out all the air related units (air filter, air filter box, hose, etc.) and then pull the batt.

That should give you ample room to see what you are looking for.

I ahve not replaced mine yet, but I have the exact same code, and I just havent gotten around to getting a replacement yet. Its about $100.

However I have gotten to it when I had to replace the spark plugs so I know where its at. When you get everything out the EGR valve will be lower front, and then a silver tube will go back and arounf the engine, to the top back.

Just so you know, I have driven around on it got about 8 months now. It wont damage the car, just might make for crummey gas milage.
