Default Optional Power Outlets

Just purchased a 2002 PT Cruiser. It did not had the Optional Outlets installed. I wonder how much trouble it is to self install the one below the radio panel. I could not find a way to remove the panel, as I assume that the power is there. I did find the power lead in the jack area for the rear one.

Holligan,

GENTLY pry the square panel around the window buttons away from the center console. Under that panel will be a single screw which holds the rest of the center console outter plate in place. You might have to pry the bottom part of the plate out a bit to get it started. You will then have access to the panel where the power outlet goes and can see if there is any pre-wiring already in place so you can just add the outlet.

I was thinking of doing that myself. I found this on the PT do it yourself site.

I must be really lucky then. I bought a used 2001 PTCruiser that has 3 plug ins. 2 in front an 1 in the truck area. All are useable.
Sorry to hear that you got short sheeted on the plugs.
Hope you can correct or modify your car to your liking.

Johng,

Holligan didn't get "short Sheeted". Depending on the model of PT that you buy, there are certain "things' that didn't come with the package that you order. You probably have the limited edition which comes with most of the "extra" bells and whistles but even some of them didn't come with things like a drivers power seat, a passenger underseat drawer or the overhead compass/temperature guage. The BASE model was missing most of the extras, but you saved a couple thousand dollars on the bottom line.
