Problems!

Hi I just bought my used 2003 base model about a month and a half ago and after about a week the idle got reel rough and stalled at a stop light electrical and all went off. replaced the air filter, the idle switch valve and and put a auto lite spark plugs and wires in it and that sort of took care of the rough idling but it still stalls and it generally when it happens the break peddle gets hard to push down. i ran 2 bottles of "Chevron with Techron" carb cleaner and as far as i can tell it didn't do much of anything. My car also has a bit of hydrophobia and when it rains it stalls. but i heard Daimler Chrysler products have a history of that

You said your replaced the "Idle Switch Valve" and I'm not sure what that is. Is it the same as the Idle Air Controller attached to and located behind the throttle body? It can be taken off and cleaned or replace pretty easily.

yeah sorry kinda new to car part names, i bought it with 72,111 miles on it and all of the stuff i replaced was from 2003 when the car was new i found out

Well, 2 things. First, when you stall the power assisted brakes no longer work and that's why the pedal gets hard so nothings wrong there. 2nd, one of the engine modules like the PCM (Power Control Module) or ECM (Engine Control Module) or ECU (Electronic Control Unit) the does controlling through sensors to adjust the idle so it won't stall when you come to a stop or turn the A/C on, so you might have a problem with one of them.

Thanks ill have them looked at. but is the stalling during rainfall normal?

No, that's not normal except for my old Triumph motorcycle filled with British Lucas electrics. The modern car isn't affected by rain, or at least shouldn't be.

nah my ac needs coolant and since the fall is right around the corner ill let it be for now.
