I am in Santa Barbara, CA. We have a dealer here. And I think the next nearest dealer is about 30 miles away in a City called Oxnard.

I don't know if we have any local non-dealer mechanics authorized to do warranty work.

$600 for a battery cable--no way--do believe that they are suggesting replacing the engine compartment harness in total--a portion the hot side--is contained in that harness.

Cuts out at 2100 RPM--take a close look at all secondary ignition parts--you do not mention any CEL's or codes---could be a spark plug wire failing under load--had the same issue on a customers Caravan--took forever for us to get smart and look at the wires in a dark shop--sure enought--at a given RPM, #3 was shorting out to the block--killed one in four cylinders same as it would do in a PT...New plug wires and routing--no longer an issue and it never threw a code or set the CEL. Could also be a failing plug or a cracked insulator on a plug.

Try an in inexpensive tune up and see if your problem does not go away. Also add can of techrolene (sp) to the fuel tank and see if possibly you have a dirty injector.

Keep us informed and let us all get involved in a proper solution.

Thanks. This is very helpful. Yes, they were saying the whole harness would have to be replaced because of corrosion of the ground lead. They say it is an all or nothing proposition.

They say that no codes are showing up.

They say they cannot replicate the vehicles behavior (in spite of the fact it is behaving this way 40% of every car trip I take.

Okay, the nozzle thing was one problem and I had to pay for a "throttle body" cleaning, included in the "fuel induction service", which covers a lot of things. Since it was maintenance and I had to pay for it ($159.95)

However, the other thing they replaced was my cam sensor, which was covered under my extended warranty. They said that they performed the diagnostic and came up w/ P0340 code (Cam Sensor), replaced it and then said I needed a cleaning. After that, haven't had the same issue.

First, thanks to everyone for this GREAT information and advice!

I am cutting and pasteing all the replies (minus names) into a word document to "share" with my local dealer when I go back.

I will likely try the tune up and addative first before I go back to the dealer.

You know, I love my cruiser. It's my second. But, based on some past experiences, I have real doubts about the local service department.

I need to find another local mechanic shop other than the dealer that is authorized to do warranty work.

Anyway, thanks for everything!

Warranty Work = Dealership.....Warranty work is paid at a greatly reduced rate and the parts are severely discounted also. The other great thing about warranty work--it gets you back to the store where you can by more "goodies". The reduced parts and labor cost paid to the dealership are considered a cost of doing business with the manufacturer.

To go along with what BLUEH20 just said. You might have got away with the Cam Sensor but the dealer made up the lost cash by his so called "Fuel Induction Service".
