You don't say how many miles are on your PT.
There's two belts that could be slipping, the serpentine and alternator belt. Either one could be causing the squeak/squeal. The tensioner only works on the serpentine belt and could need changing itself. The alternator itself has to be adjusted to take up the slack of that belt. I asked your mileage because it could be time to change both belts if your anywhere near 100K.

A few yers ago there was an issue tith Cruisers and water/snow. It seems that the belts had a propensity to fall off after hitting a deep puddle or snow berm. Chrysler came out with a snow/water guard for the lower area of belt travel. This item may still be in the system. Need to check aganist your year and motor with a good parts person. Have the Service department look it up under TSB's.

I think I got it. I re-tensioned my alternator. It is the first one I see that has a take up bolt
. It took me longer to find the wrench I droped in the engine bay than the three bolts I had to play with. Oh yeah, I had a chance to play with my metric tools today . I went for a drive, and I got the PT wet, and no more squeaking .

you know i noticed the same problem with my belts on my 02 cruiser about 88,000 miles. I got it wet about 3 weeks ago and slowly but surely the belt was slipping more and more. i drove all afternoon 2 days ago and the squeaks were longer and more frequent. i figured yesterday my AC is giving out. i have been driving with my AC off all afternoon and all morning and no slipping. i was hoping just the belts were going to have to be replaced. any suggestions on where to start?
