I was wondering if anyone has actually tried a srt-4 stage 1 computer in a pt? I have been told by numerious people that they are completely different but when I pull schematics in Mitchell they are identical pin for pin wire color for wire color from what I see with the exception of the cruise control (which are empty's on the srt) and auto trans stuff but mine is a stick just like a srt. I'm asking since I have a srt-4 stage 1 computer, blow off, injectors, fuel pump etc that I happend upon for free and I would like to attempt the switch even if I lose the cruise control (I drive in traffic 90% of the time :O(). I just find it hard to believe that they made completely different computers for identical engines in the car and couldnt be adapted some way cost effectively. Maybe I'm wrong though.
If you have actually tried it or know for sure please let me know. If it's just a theory... well I've already heard those and from what I have found they look incorrect, misleading or overly pessimistic. Thanks for your help it is much appreciated. |

It won't work well. Different programming. Why not sell the srt-4 S1 and then buy a PT S1. Keep in mind I've owned both an '03 modified GT and now own a modified neon srt-4. If you do attempt it you best have a wideband to check air/fuel mix as the intake manifolds are way different even though they are the same engine. The intercooler and plumbing is also different so that may affect programming, too. I just think selling the srt S1 and then buying the correct year PT S1 would be a better choice. You do know you can't even mix up the year S1 pcm with the wrong year PT. Also if you are looking for more power then look at the Diablosport Predator. It will hold 4 tunes. If you go that far I'd also want to have the correct year /model S1 pcm in the car so the tunes totally work. Have fun.

What specifically is different with the programming? This is programming that I can't change with a chip? I'm fairly familiar with tuning cars, I do own a wideband and I have run several computers with "different programming" in other vehicles that I have modified in the past with NO problems. I've done crazyness where I used auto trans computers in sticks and piggybacked a pcm in my 94 lightning with a a9l processor from a mustang to convert it to sfi and still maintian the factory computer for the compuerized trans. I don't understand what would be soo different that I can't change when the car is dyno'd. I really don't see an huge advantage to the stage 1 IMO to justify the cost from what I have read, especially if I can just change a few paramaters when it's dyno'd. I got the stage 1 out of a SRT4 that I did the stage 3 conversion and the owner is currently having that pcm reprogrammed. Which makes no sense to me. Maybe I just don't understand these pcm's since I haven't had experience with them.

If it is a stage 3 then it definitely won't work as they look for a 3 bar map and tip sensors that you change out when you go to stage 2 and the stage 3 for the srt-4. If you are crazy about that pcm then get a hold of Rage Tek
RAGE-TEK for the Diablosport. They can do canned tunes for what you want and I'm pretty sure the car owner can make some changes to what they want, too. Check them out.
