Default Will not start

A few days ago I ran out of gas going uphill. I put 1/2 tank in and still will not start. It spins. Even the mechanic is stumped. Fuses look good. Replaced crank sensor. The fuel pump is fine and it has pressure.

I have a feeling its electrical.

Any ides?

Just a guess, but you might have burned out the fuel pump and lack of fuel equals no start. I have the feeling you've run the tank down pretty low before this. The fuel pump is lubricated and cooled by the fuel. When you run the tank down low numerous times, the pump can burn out. Mechanics on this forum have told us this many times.

BTW: Welcome to the forum.

Checked it again by 2 mechanics ... Fuel pump is fine. Seems that there is no "Spark"

They told me not to call back until the afternoon.

k...when was the last time you had a tune-up? If there is no spark, it doesn't necessarily have to be the spark plugs...could be because there isn't enough fuel to ignite...let us know what you find out!!!!

My 2002 PT Cruiser has been giving me the same problem for the past year. I have taken it to at least 5 different Chrysler service centers only to find out the issue still has not been resolved.

The car will not turn over. It will shut off while I am driving. Sometimes when I crank the car up it shakes violently and then shuts off. There are times when I crank the car up it will just make a pup, pup, pup noise and then shut off. I can't run errands because the car at some point will shut off on me. I spend at least 12-20 minutes trying to crank the car. At some point it does start up. Yesterday the car shut off on me while I was driving it and my brakes went out. Luckily there was no car in front of me.

Every Chrysler service center I have taken it to says the car is fine. They say the computer was unable to detect and issue. I am litterally at my wits end with this car.

Replace the the coil! It appears that it is breaking down intermittenly--this condition s not related to heat no run condition--it is related to the fact that the soild state coil is failing. This problem was first brough to my attention in the 1990's Chrysler Jeep series with the 2 part coil packs.

While you are at it--up grade to the hot coil and wires listed in the stickies above the chatter.

I "ass u me" that your techs have checked or replaced the cam positin senor.

Go after the secondary ignition parts--should solve your problem and increase the performance of your ride.

My wife's died on her on the freeway. The motor will turn but won't fire. I do know that the fuel pump is running. I checked relays and fuses as well. I am going to swap the coil in hopes that it is the culpret
