Default Routine maint to improve performance

Other than changing spark plugs and air filter, are there any other items that need to be changed out on the PT to keep it running smooth? Fuel filter, etc? Also, what other additives or tweaks have been used or installed with positive performance or gas mileage. Thanks.

Of course good scheduled maintenance will always keep your vehicle running smooth.

1. When your stock air filter goes bad - Upgrade to an K&N drop in air filter. It has a lifetime warranty and it will help both fuel economy and performance minimally but it will add up eventually.

There really is not much you CAN do to improve performance or increase fuel economy.

I'm sure someone else will add to the list, but it's a good start!

Good luck!

Bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank at every oil change.

I agree about the K&N filter. I haven't put one on the PT but on my 89 Vette it did help with air flow. The only thing I would add is that I ended up buying 2 filters. After I cleaned the first one and oiled it I had to let it dry for a while. I didn't like the down time, so I bought another that I always have ready. It's a bit more money, but it keeps me from sticking in a filter that isn't really dry and I can clean and treat the dirty one when I have time.

Performance wires as well as the plugs. I bought Crane Plug Wires from raceandstreet.com, have used MOPAR's on my first two PT's.

Keep it tuned up and do the regular maintenance on it. You won't get any magical performance enhancements, but the car will run as well as it is possible. My wife's '04 with over 109k miles runs like it did the day we bought it new. If you have the auto tranny then every 30k miles alternate between a drain and fill and the full tranny flush service.

Old thread, but wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

Keep your throttle body clean. It takes doesn't take much and can give you a smoother drive.
