I don't profess to be a gearhead but I do my own maintenence. I have done two oil changes on my 2003 white standard PT. There is some kind of baffle inside the oil fill that stops either the oil bottle or a funnel from going in the fill opening. If I fill too fast it overflows. Wassup with this?

I believe the baffle is a splash shield to prevent oil from spraying out of the filler hole should you remove the cap while the engine is running.

The baffle stops oil from flying against the oil cap when running. If oil constantly hit it, some would seep out. Then unhappy customers would be coming in with oil leaks on their brand new cars!

Cut the top off of an empty plastic oil bottle, about an inch or so down into the 'body' of the bottle. Makes a nice little funnel that will sit in the filler opening.
