Default Should I remove the Battery for thr Winter?

Hello!!

Yeah probably a dumb question but I plan to store my car for the winter. It will be covered but outside, not inside a garage. Should I remove the Battery from the car and store it inside from the cold?

Or, should I leave it in so I can start the car atleast once a week just to run it for a lil' bit...?..I live in Northeast Central New Jersey, close to water so it can get pretty darn cold here.

Thanks!!!
Cat

Not sure Cat, but I read somewhere, that if a car isn't gonna be driven much during the winter, the battery should be removed.

However, I would prob drive it once a week, get the juices flowing thru the engine...but then again, I don't live in a freezing cold region! SO, not really sure...try here tho':

I was told not necessary...Just start it up once in a while...run it around the block if you can...or just let it run...

one of the hardest things on cars is letting them set----keep the battery start it up each week let it run for a good 15 minutes and get the engine all and oiled up

I live in Missouri so its not that much colder where you are

Sounds good, I'll just keep it covered so the snow stays off the Top. I def. planned to run it atleast once a week just to keep it going, Fresh Oil change and everything will be topped off before it's put away.

LOL Ron, How about I'll go drive it top down in a snow storm so it kinda feels like a Sled! Hahaha JK (Sad thing is, I said that to a co-worker a week ago and they said they could see me doing that..LOLZ)

No need to take the battery out at all, in fact may have to reset many things in the car if you do. Just use a good device like the Battery Tender Battery Tender Plus 12 Volt 1.25 Amp Battery Charger: BatteryMart.com to keep the battery up during the winter. I do not drive my BMW Z4 at all during the winter and use one of these devices to keep the battery up and ready to go. Do not get a cheap one, because many fail and overcharge your battery. The one here is the same as many dealers sell and they are excellent.
