Hi all! First post here, so please be kind. I'd like to say that this seems to be the definitive Cruiser board. Very nice.
Down to business: Wife's Touring Pkg Cruiser has 73k miles on it and needs new shocks/struts. I'm leaning towards Koni's, but am curious to know if the ride is too harsh. We've got a '99 Miata and she loves the handling of that, so I'm thinking Koni's would help the Cruiser's ride considerably - but I don't want to install them if it'll make the ride too harsh. Can anyone give me their opinion of the Koni's, please? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks. |

Koni's are the BEST shock/struts on the market. The warranty on them are lifetime (for the original owner) and they can be rebuilt. I will be getting them for my PT GT once the OEMs are worn out.
If you get the adjustable ones, then you really won't have an issue with the harshness of the rid since you can adjust them from hard to soft (depending on how 'spirited' your driving habits are). I've got a set of racing Koni's for my Omni (around $2000 for the set) and I don't have a single complaint about them. Marc 2003 PT Cruiser GT Turbo, Silver 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo 16V, Black |

I think Tokico has a set out now too but they are not their adjustables. I like the Koni adjustables personlly. I will be putting them on this car when the time comes.

Anything related to Konis for the PT is irrelevant until you contact them and find out the item is available and its price. The things are close to hand built and assembled. Suggest you use Google and search for the Koni distributor or Koni home page.
Good Luck!

Tire Rack has them for the PT.
The front shocks are 137 each. Rears run 117 each.
