new parts for 2002 cruiser ac

i am purchasing new parts to repair my air condition on my 2002 pt cruiser. i have found a great deal on a new ac compressor. now i am getting the drier and orifice tube to satisfy my warranty. i contacted my auto parts store and they are telling me 120 (80 drier, 40 orifice) for both item. they also told me the orifice tube was special order because it was not just the orifice tube but also an additional part (hose). the dealer i got the compressor from does not carry the other parts and that 120 should be maybe 50 or so. not the 120 i was quoted. any help on where i can get the drier and orifice tube or explain what the auto part store was telling me.

If you want better prices, search on-line. In just a couple minutes I found a drier for $59 and an orifice tube with liquid line for $34.

on a different note on this forum considering i cant find it anywhere else. i have installed all my ac parts compressor, drier and expansion valve. we tried to put new freon and after jumping it the compressor would not kick in. Bad compressor or does something stick out more than a faulty compressor?

Did you have the right guages to measure the high and low pressure of the R134? Did you throw in a new high pressure switch? You replaced everything else. Not enough pressure or too high pressure will stop the compressor from coming on.

yes we replaced that switch. that is where we tried to jump it after we initially could not get the compressor to come on. thought maybe all the new parts wasnt allowing the compressor to come on. we thought maybe ac computer in the dash but dealer said very unlikely since they dont go bad. changed out switches and relays and they worked fine as well.

Time for some professional help. We have shops here in Florida called "Ice Cold Air" that will check out the A/C system for free hoping they can sell you some parts . Maybe you have some place around your area that will do the same.

see crewzin thats why if you see my other post i have troubles with my old mechanic...we were looking and found a bad ground...its getting charged as we speek...sorry for being such a pest and a mechanic retard but thank you all very very much for all your help this forum has made me a much better pt owner and i am in debt to you all...especially crewzin who seems to always be the first to respond my post! woo hooo the pt has finally come together. on to my next project of replacing the brakes!

I'm just always here except when I go out for the Sheriff or attend one of my 4 car club meetings or events or take the wife out to see the latest movie. As a moderator ( the only one around right now) I go threw every post looking to see that everyone follows the rules and getting rid of the SPAM. We seem to receive about half a dozen SPAM posts a day (mostly to do with converting DVD's) and I delete them and ban the poster, but it doesn't do any good. This forum isn't set up right and they can just log in as ay other name and keep spamming. A never ending volunteer job.

garciaag:: the breaks are as easy as you will ever get the fount should take less than a hour to do both sides it is a really good set up and works pretty well
not much different than any other fount wheel drive car or really any dis brake car--never did the back as mine has drums
