Here is what I found on the code P0480 Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit
I have already replace the cooling fan assembly with a new after market unit that is a direct replacement for the factory unit. I replace the unit because the factory one was damaged in a front end accident that also damaged the radiator and condensor. all has been replaced now. This is the only code that is coming up. The new fan assembly came with all of the relays that are mounted to the fan its self. It was a direct plug in replacement and pluged in just like the factory unit. The only other thing I found for the fan was the 50 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood and it looked fine. The car doesn't run hot or any thing like that it just keeps getting the check engine light with the p0480 code. Is there any thing else I should look at? I apprecite any help in advance. |

I'd like to help but I think they have changed quite a bit with the newer (06-08) models. 50amp fuse is way bigger than anything the old cruisers have that I know of. There are 2 relays in the fuse box in the engine compartment in the older cruisers. Have you checked the owners manual to see what you have in your engine bay fuse box?

The only thing I could find in the owners manual was the 50 amp fuse. They may have listed it as a relay I don't remember I will have to look when my wife come in from work. It looked like a square fuse though and sisn't really looki like a relay. It was in the fuse box under the hood. Do you have a picture of what the fan relay looks like on the older pt cruiser? I know the radiator is the same and the condensor is the same on the 01 -07. On my 07 it has a seperate transmission cooler on it and the tranmission fluid lines don't tie into the readiator. The radiator I got was new and listed for 01-07 and it has the hook ups on it for the transmission lines but I didn't need them and just capped them off. My lines were ran directly to a stand alone cooler.
