Default Random power loss, glow plug light????

Hi

I have a 2007 2.2 CRD and have started suffering random problems over the last four weeks:

All power goes, warning lights come on and usual bings and bongs. Only lasts for a few seconds and then everything fine again. Can happen at 20 or 30mph and not while changing gear. This has happened twice now.

Glow plug light comes on, bings and bongs, cruise goes off. Has happened 4 times now varying from 2 secs to 10 secs.

Garage could not find anything wrong when on test drive (surprise surprise when it's an intermittent fault!!) and presumably nothing is showing on error codes.

They say take it back when it happens again - I say is that after a lorry has gone up my back end when I suddening slow down without braking (worse still the second time it happened my daughter was driving it)

Anyone else had similar experience please?

P

Hi P!

You will not get too much answers in a US-PT Cruiser forum on the CRD because the PT with Diesel engine was never sold in the States.

Anyway, your garage shoud not only do a test drive but they should connect the car to a diagnostic tool. Even if the check engine light is off now, the ECU could have stored an intermediate fault.

If I got you right, a lorry touched the backside of your PT more or less powerful? This could have damaged via the exhaust the catalyst (if equipped) or the Turbo charger....

Disconnect the battery for around 15 minutes to reset the computer, but don't touch the brakes during this time frame.See if it improves after the reset.
