Two days ago i was driving on the turnpike north ... i was going about 70 mph and i had it on cruise control ... all of a sudden i start dropping speed i take cruise control off and then i tried to manually speed up ... my cart kept slowing down ... finallly i pulled over to the side of the road and it just died. tried to start it up again and it wont start. i had it jump started and it just wont catch on ... it will start up for two seconds if i am pressing the gass but then it will just die again. Had to have my car towed home to ocala ... i had 3 people look at it they all told me different things. 1 - "low compression to 1st cylindar" 2 - "fuel pump or alternator" 3 - "blown head gasket or burned vavle" ... i just had the spark plugs replaced and the spark coil .... i need to get it fixed and i dont have a lot of money to take it to a shop please please please help me

Norma. When it died on the road did the "check engine" light come on to help us diagnose the problem?
My 2001 did the same thing and turned out to be the wires attached to the Cam Position sensor. Find a shop or mechanic that has a scan tool that will tell you more than just the codes from the check engine light. My guess would be the Cam or Crank sensor. Also, you say you just had the plugs and coil changed. Along with the plugs, the plug wires, especially if they are original, should have also been changed and whoever did the work probably sold you the coil for no good reason. It almost never goes bad. There's no PT club in Ocala, I know, I tried to start something up but there didn't seem to be any interest, but there is plenty of cruise-ins around your area SR200/Route 40. Ask around for a mechanic that can be trusted that can diagnose your problem without taking you for a ride.

NO, it's almost 99% just a sensor or something small. You didn't say what mileage you have on your PT. Is it anywhere around the 100,000 mark? I doubt it as you say it's a 2007. At that time you need to have the timing belt changed along with other accessories so that could run around $1000 but don't jump to conclusions before finding out what's wrong.

07? Isn't it still under warranty?
I'm sure it's as simple as Crewzin suggested like that cam sensor. $20 part, 15 minute change. Try to fix it yourself if your car is under warranty. If that's not it, at least you have a spare which you'll need in the future.

She had 3 people look at it and gave her 3 different responses, that's why I told her to find someone who can direct her to an honest mechanic.
Whatever the code is, she'll have to have it towed someplace for a final diagnosis and repair.

Norma, you stated that you had the car jumped, but it wouldn't keep running. My 03 GT did the same thing when the battery died, which surprised me. You would think it would keep running after jump starting, but it died each time after several attempts. I put a new battery in it and it was just fine. Check to make sure that the battery cables are clean and making good contact.
