Default Cooling Fans

Searced the web and havent found an answer yet. Have an 01 PT Cruiser at the shop i work at. I replaced the transmission. I let it run for a while so i could check the trans fluid. Car overheated while running. Checked and found out the fans wont turn on. They will turn on if i jump the AC pressure switch and turn the ac on tho. I have checked the fuses and switched the relays. Also gave direct power to the fans. Everything checked out fine. Fans still wont turn on. Any ideas what to look for?

Sounds like you checked everything ....except the part of the computer system that makes everything work. Not sure which part but there's the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), ECM (Engine control Module), ECU (Engine Control Unit).

I just found the section in the Haynes Manual and it's the PCM that controls the fan. It just tells the reader to leave it to the service department to check it out with the proper diagnostic equipment.

Well, apparently i thought i checked everything. I checked the high side on the fan but not the low side. I tried the low side, and it gets a signal from t he PCM but doesnt turn on. I tried to manually turn the low side on and it doesnt work. Have a new fan coming right now from the dealer. Thanks guys. Ill let you know.
