Default CAMBER ADJUSTER KITS

I anticipate lowering my 04 GT Turbo. Looking for camber adjusters is very confusing. Most venders show photos with a notation, “example, these may NOT be the adjusters for your car”. A very true statement. The price of the kits also have great variations in price. Some imply that the front adjusters are adjustable ball joints. Others say the adjusters provide adjustable control arm mounts. After much research I am convinced that the only front camber adjusters are no more than eccentric strut mounting bolts. Some kits have just upper adjustable bolts, some with upper and lower. All claim different adjustment ranges, although there is just so much the cam can adjust without elongating the mounting hole. The rear is even more confusing. Regardless of claims of various rear camber adjusters, only the shims seem applicable. Some say for rear drum brakes. None say for rear disc brakes. The GT has rear disc brakes. I need some advice. Some info from members who have gone through the installation would be appreciated.

The "kit" I bought from the dealer consisted of 2 bolts that have cam shaped sides and they replace the bottom bolt (one on each side) that holds the strut on. As they are turned by the person doing the alignment, the cam shape moves the car in and out of specs. The kit cost me $30 (rip off for 2 bolts). The rear only takes shims and mine didn't need a thing. With just the "kit" I saw that all 4 wheels where in the GREEN on the computer when he was finished.

As I said in your other post the shop that lowered both of my PTs had the kits on hand, but didn't have to use them. When you get an alignment you'll find out if you need them.

I'm sure that the only front camber adjusters are the cam bolts. Rear can only be adjusted by shims. Most shims are a stock item at front end shops. They have an array of different thicknesses. I have seen an adjustable shim, but can't find the source. The shims are usually cut so they can be installed without disassembling the brakes. I would still love to know if the drum and disc rear brake take different shims.
