Angry Ambient Temperature Sensor

My 2002 Compass/ ambient thermometer started reading 140F. I put 3 sensors in it and disconnected
the battery the last 2 times. Same result. The dealer can't even fix it.
Any help out there??
Thanks,
Billy

Maybe he's reading degrees azimuth!
(I believe that's southeast)

One of two three things have failed:

Sensor-located in front grill area. Previously replaced 3 times. Rule this one out.

Wiring between the two. Since this has been in the shop for at least one effort--probably not the issue.

Display/computer-this is the expensive one--is yours in the dash or do you have an Overhead Trip Information System (OTIS)? One is much more than the other.

The 2002 I have only the compass and Ambient Temperature in F&C are available.
A couple of the sensors I tried offered an new temp of -33F instead of only140f or 40C. That is the only change I saw. The compass has always been correct. I'm thinking that it maybe a file in the computer? I'm all with the idea that it's the wires in between. But all the temp readings wew exact or close. The one reading I got at-33f came up to 140 in a short drive. I'm thinking of pulling fuses one at a time and trying to get a reset.

move to Iraq or Alaska...

Then the temps will be closer to what it's displaying... LOL

I swore I read in the owners manual about resetting the temp? Mine started saying I was always going south... I had to drive in circles for a minute to calibrate it... There's got to be a easy thing being overlooked... I'd hate to think it is one of the more expensive ones that were mentioned above...
