Default Oil on my sparkplugs?

I have a 03' PT Cruiser with 63,000 miles and its been running kinda crappy lately and I pulled one of the plugs and it was covered in oil,it was a Bosch +2 platnium plug which i'm assuming isnt the factory plug? What would cause this? The gaskets around the plugs or maybe a clogged pcv which i've heard raises the pressure in the crankcase causing oil to blow by the gaskets.

that is a normal thing for the seals on the valve cover to leak and have oil get in to the spark plug tubes. you will need to have the valve cover gasket repalced. and the stock spark plugs are champion coppers that are sopose to replaced every 30k.

I figured it was the gasket.I'll change it when I get paid..
Champion plugs?I've never heard good things about Champion plugs,do they do good in PT's?I was planning on putting some plain NGK platinum G-Powers.Thats why I run in my 85' Chevy C10 and i've had good luck with em.If they stock plug is a plain old Champion copper plug why do they recommend all these double platinum and fine wire plugs?(I work at Advance Auto Parts so I checked on all of the replacement options)

Because Chrysler is cheap. the champions work very well as long as you repalce them evry 30K. most of the replacement plugs are there for longer service intervals. now if you have the stage one kit installed they have there own set of plug they would like you to use on the instructions but not every one uses them.
With the valve cover gasket i would just take it to the dealer. They are a 8!TCH! and if you get it wrong you can only blame youself. and not be able to take it back and have it fixxed for free. it will be expensive but the "stealer" works on them the most. the NGK's work great!! the new "E3 Diamond fires" work well. i have them in my 98 Neon R/T and and they got rid of my dead spot in the rpm range between 2800 and 3000. oh and make sure to use MSD 8.5 wires or the Grinnelli(?) from moderernperfromance.com. and gap your plugs around .028 and .035 this combo will get rid of most of the shakes adn rattles and low idle in drive w/ autos and a/c on in manuals at stop lights.

It couldn't be that bad could it?I've changed a couple valve cover gasket on some DOHC motors and it wasn't to bad.I changed one on my brothers probe a couple weeks ago and it was easy and I changed one in the H22A swapped civic my buddy had(Total fast a** sleeper).Mines not a turbo Pt but I was gonna buy the MSD coil and wires anyway since I can them cheap through work so whats a good plug and gap to run with that setup? What do you know about the K&N intakes for the PT's?Are they intakes worth the money?I've had alot of friends put K&N intakes in their cars & trucks and actually lost power and gas mileage.

Forget the MSD coil. A waste of money. The stock coil is more than adequate. MSD wires are good. I'm running those in my modified SRT-4.

You need to change the spark plug well gaskets and the valve cover gasket. It's not hard if you can turn a wrench. Be sure to use Mopar RTV sealant in the proper places on the head before laying out the valve cover gasket.

Bosch double plats are great plugs for the na PT. I run those in my wife's '04 na PT.

A K&N drop in filter is just fine. You don't need a more expensive intake. Waste of money.

I thought you wanted to run a different gap if you ran the MSD wires though?Because Bosch +2's aren't gappable..I already have the K&N drop in filter and I didn't notice a difference at all?But that might just be because of the oil drenched plugs.Would I notice a difference in power with a intake? You think a n/a PT could hit 200 hp With a full exhaust, intake, coil, plug wires, better plugs, and a programmer or a tune?Whats the stock number on a n/a PT?

You don't need to regap when you use the MSD wires. Bosch +2's aren't gappable. Just put them in.

No power difference with an intake.

Stock is 150. 200 hp would not be easy. You can spend money to try and get more hp, but the gains won't be worth the money. If you really want power then go with a turbo lite or GT PT.

So the turbo valve cover gasket will work on the n/a's?Because i heard they were better from someone. If stock power is 150 it seems like it wouldn't be impossible to get 200 with full exhaust, coil, wires, tune and a throttle body spacer. Maybe a ported and polished throttle body too.Anybody now if you can get a bigger throttle body for pt's?
