Hi Fritz. I am not "that concerned" with crash-test ratings. I was just curious if anyone knew what change(s) were made. I already am a PT owner and love it so much I was thinking about making our other car a PT also. As far as the defensive driver class, I am a retired cop, so I have some behind-the wheel experience. Sorry if you felt my asking the question was somehow disloyal to PTs. Not my intention. Just hoping to gain a little knowledge.

Actually, behind the sheet metal, there were changes made. I know this because of a deer accident I was in with my '02. Looking in the bookds for replacement parts, the pieces behind the front bumper and fascia are significantly different, especially around the fender area. As far as the doors and side air bags, they appear to be the same.

Thanks pingber! I appreciate your sharing that information. I didn't think to check the parts books. It makes sense that the doors and sides would be the same as they passed the crash tests just fine in '01. I hope you and your '02 are now back in fine shape after your deer encounter. Thanks again!
