Agree. Ask the dealer to show you his gun. When he says, "what gun?" say, well, if you're going to rob me, I want to see a gun!

Where are you located?

Most after market or 3rd party systems are legal in only 49 states--

California is the exception! Hell, California is the exception to everything!

Go to another place...That price is insane. If you have the tools, just replace it yourself. The last time I looked under mine, it didn't look difficult to remove.

id have to say doing it your self in this case is a lot of work
and you have to have some special tools--OK not really special but---------- a wire feed welder,,,,,, and a plasma cutter,,,,,, and or a cutting torch ,,,,,,,,and or a side grinder ,,,something to remover the old one and make a nice clean line to weld the new on on to
some relaly good sized jack stands and time
well then the ability to used the above mentioned tools

probably cheaper to just have it done

There shouldn't be any welding or cutting involved. Bolts in on one side and a clamp on the other. The universal ones may need that, but there is direct fit ones made for the car.
