'Going to make the switch to Mobil 1. Did some shopping around and found 5W30 synthetic at Target for $2.94/qt... but cannot find the filter #M1-102.
No, wait, AutoZone had them for $12!! Online = $10. They appear to be in limited supply. Realizing the technical merit of these filters, they are going to be more expensive but I was hoping for a more reasonable price. Group buy? |

Mobil 1 is a great product! I've been using it for over 15 years on three different cars with no oil related problems. But, there are a lot of good filters out there too besides the Mobil 1 filter. I've been using FRAM (PH3614) for over 30,000 miles on the PT and at only about 3.50 a piece. Now FRAM has an upgraded filter where the core is covered with the additive PTFE (DG3614)and it's only about 6.00 each. They can be found in any of the leading auto stores. Good site is www.fram.com What I'm trying to say is: use the Mobil 1 oil but there's a wide choice of filters available. Just my $.02

Based on the information found at http://www.frankhunt.com/FRANK/corve...lterstudy.html, I wouldn't put a Fram filter on my lawn mower, much as my PT.

Not much use in talking when no one's listening. Enjoy those FRAMs!

Dan,
It's not that no one is listening. 108 people have already read this topic on this forum. If they can get to the site you listed (your site inclusion doesn't work..you have to get to the site piece by piece) they might take that guys recommendation and go for the filters he likes. I happen to use the FRAM Tough Guard and that's on his "recommended" list. All I'm saying is that I'm not gonna change just because that guy says so. I personally have had no problems...maybe because I change the synthetic oil on all three cars every 3,000 miles and the filters don't have a chance to foul up, who knows? And I don't have a valve train noise when starting up any of the cars like the tester did. ![]() |

Bill, You've been using FRAM filters all your life (only you know how long that is!) and you found out somehow that FRAM is lousy so you changed? You don't mention any oil related problems, just somebody's word on it? Picture this: 12 large bananas, one small rat. Forse feed the rat with all 12 bannans...he'll/she'll DIE! That goes to prove that Bananas are bad for you, so take my advise and stop eating bananas. Some guy cuts open every filter he can get ahold of and doesn't like the glue...makes his predictions/recommendations and feeds them to the world thru the internet. Fine, if you don't like FRAM go for whatever filter you desire, I'm sticking to what has worked for me with proven (milage/no problems)results.

Ummm, anyway, does anyone have a source for Mobil 1 filters at reasonable prices? Online purchase okay, too.
