Okay, using your picture, is the "boxed" area the tab you are referring to?

Sorry to be so "thick", but this is driving me knutz!!!

YES, see my photo as well. Push down on that oblong piece so the top of it lifts over the two small notches you can't see and while doing that pull down on the bottom connector away from the top connector. Hold the top part of the connector in left hand, thumb on tab with right hand and also pull down with right hand.

Also, your red tab doesn't seem to be pushed in on the left and sticking out on the right.
