Default Engine Codes help

Hi all,
This is my second post. (I posted one yesterday, but got no replies. However, I figured that one out.) I have a 2005 PT Cruiser (not turbo) 2.4 engine. Just replaced the timing belt (about 58, 500 mi.) and water pump. When I start the engine, it is running rough. Checked the codes and got P0016 (crank/camshaft position correlation) and p0334 (camshaft pos. sensor circuit intermittent). Im working on this car for a friend of mine. After putting timing belt on and balancer I started it and it ran fine. Put everything back together and started running rough at idle. Also runs rough, jerks, bogs down when you try to give it gas going down the road. If you give the gas gradually it will take it, but if you throttle it it will not take it...you have to back off and then apply gas and it will go.
I replaced the timing belt and water pump because the pump was leaking.
Just FYI, compression on all cylinders is 150+ and I changed out the plugs, gapped at .040. Tried a new camshaft position sensor...but doing same thing.
If you can help I would appreciate it.
Tim

Welcome.
You changed plugs, but what about the wires? The stock wires are crap. Cranes (if you can still get them) are great.
Sure the timing belt is lined up properly? 1 tooth off and it'll run like crap.

I agree with QSD, with all those codes it sounds like you messed up on putting it back together and the timing belt is off.

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond. Yes, I've checked the timing marks 3-4 times...TDC, crankshaft timing mark and cam marks all are aligned. Once I put the belt on I put the harmonic balancer on and started the engine to ensure all was well before reassembling everything. At that point, the engine ran fine. It wasn't until everything was back together that these two codes came up.
