Default Slow leaks in my 2008 GT Cruiser

Aloha:

The front left and right rear tires require air about every two weeks. The air pressure drops to about 33 pounds and initiates the alarm. Adding air stops the alarm.

I have been finding on the Internet that this is a common complaint with the PT Cruiser. It seems that some rims are being found porous.

Does any one have additional information about this?

Thanks

Dan,

You posted in the "For Sale" section of the forum so I moved it over.

The older cruisers with the chrome GT wheels did have a problem with leaks because the chrome would rust and peel and cause the tire not to seat properly. I haven't heard of any of the newer cruisers having that problem. My advise is because it's a brand new car, take it back to the dealer and complain. Your still under warranty and if you start trying to fix it without showing the dealer first, they'll try blaming it on you.

Have seen a few vehicles, not only PT's, not only Chryslers that the pressure sensing unit in the wheel was not torqued properly and allowed leakage.

Also, the cold weather-if you suffer from that seasonal issue, will cause some tires/rims to leak down more than others.

I have a 2008 with the TPS--my right front has tripped the alarm only once this winter. Weather was in the single digits ambient and the vehilce was stored at night in a 40°F garage overnnight. Lots of contraction and expansion in the air in the tires.

Let us know what you find.
