Default My PT is possessed!

I own an '01 Cruiser. This week things started to get goofy.
The check engine light came on. stayed on about 2 days. so i checked the gas cap first, and it went off about 5 minutes after removing and retightening.

then later in the afternoon the check engine light went on and after stopping for lunch it wouldn't start. here's the funny part. i went to get the code from the check engine and it had reset itself already... so you would think that it was the gas cap after all????

however the reason it wouldn't start seemed to be the starter solanoid b/c it was a hot day, and later in the eve it started right up.

the next day it wouldn't start again. another hot day, and no check engine light. .... but i did notice when it was running earlier that day... the cruise control did not work... the airbag light went on randomly.

i am super worried it's some kind of (expensive) electronic issues.
the "brain" on the computer was replaced at 60,000 miles already
now it's at 97,000 miles. i am the original owner.
any ideas on what i can do to help try and solve this?
has anyone heard/ experienced anything like this??

Welcome.
How many miles/years on the battery? I've read that when the battery gets low, weird things happen.
Sears and other places will test your battery/charging system for free - good (and free) place to start.
Also, whenever tyhe check engine light is on -
with car off, put in key and turn to "on" - right before "start".
turn back one click to "off".
then, on
off
on - and leave it - in the odometer one or more codes - like P0302 - will display, then the word "done".
You can do this at any time and should always get at least "done".
Do it and write down any codes that may appear - you can google the codes or post them here for clues as to what's wrong.
