I need to remove the engine from a 2002 cruiser for a rebuild. I am planning on doing this myself in my home garage. I read the factory service manual for the car and it advises to use a special dolly and cradle to remove the engine with the car on a lift. Is this cradle assembly a must? Or can the engine be removed without the car on a lift? Any info would be appreciated.

Engine will come out through the top. Take the front of the engine off and then it comes out. It's easier if you take the head off but will come out.
