Guys, you have to tell us more about your PT. There's a vast difference in electronics between the 01-05 cruisers and the 06-09 cruisers.
If it's the older ones, there's a fuse in the control panel under the hood. The No#12 fuse is for the brake lights. Also look at the connections in back of the lights themselves. Make sure there's no moisture inside the lights that would blow a fuse. With two people and meter you can test if current is getting to the lights when you step on the pedal. Hillbilly. I deleted your other post in the general section. It was just a duplicate of your post here.

Do you know where the fuse box is under the hood? 10 inch black box with the red positive hook up on one side. There's only one fuse so if your getting hot to one side, it's not the fuse. Yea, you can splice from one side to the other but that's the messy/cheap way of fixing it.
I'm looking thru the electrical system diagram but it's different depending on what year the PT is. What year is yours? After looking at different years, they all seem to be wired the same, only the power distribution center is different. The main wires run back from the fuse (#12) to the brake lamp switch and some to the headlamp switch and then back to the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Lamp). Before they get to the lamp they are "T'd" off and go to the separate left/right stop lamps. So If you have one working, the fuse is good. If the CHMSL is working then you have a break in the wire somewhere. You were right when you said you might have to spice into a working wire to get it fixed.

projectcam2,
Did you read the post above? is the 3rd brake light working even though the actual other two tail light brake lights don't. If the 3rd brake light is out also, the problem is up front somewhere. Might be the brake light switch near the brake pedal.
