Default Driving

Hi Savvy PT'ers!
I am going to lake arrow head in california. Im not sure if I should drive the PT on the regular D gear or should I change to 3? I really dont know anything about driving in the mountains. Please advise. Thank you in advance!

I went through the Appalachians (blue ridge and great smoky mountains NP) - with no real trouble. When descending a long hill drop her to 3 and you'll save some heat on the brakes.

+1 Leave it in drive unless you are having a really hard time going up hill, but with todays roads I can't imagine that on the main highways.

When you see the signs on downhill grades which tell you the angle & to slow down consider engine braking by putting it in 3rd or even 2nd. This will keep the brakes from overheating & losing their grip. Just watch the revs. Don't want to blow the engine.
