I am reaching out to my fellow PTers..Okay my 2 ac lines were freezing up on our last trip we took. I need to know if there is a screen of filter in the lines that is causing this. I took it to a shop and they want to charge me $105 and some change to get the clog out. Does someone have a fix for this problem. My problem is , the 2 ac lines are freezing up. The ac still cools, but I want to get this fixed being is that I live in South Texas...

Your problem is almost definitely the AC Pressure Cycling Switch. I had the same problem about a year ago. It was diagnosed by a professional and changed by them. I'd recommend you do the same. When the switch goes bad it gets so cold that it freezes up.
Now if they are right and there's some sort of clog in the system, you'll have to clear it first.

It's happening because either:
Clog in the line (pretty damn rare unless you just had the system serviced and it was evacced and not held under vacuum to get any moisture out) - this would reduce the flow through the system and cause it to freeze up, A stuck OFF low pressure switch - normally the switch is cycled on or off every several minutes so that the low side pressure doesn't get TOO low (the lower the low side, the more the freon expands and the cooler the air gets) - causes frozen lines, can cause any moisture that somehow exists in the lines to freeze. Low freon - causing it to get too cold (low side pressure as above). You would notice "short cycling" - i.e. the compressor turning off and on every few seconds, instead of every few minutes. Check the freon low and high side pressures first. While connected - see if the system is getting below the low pressure switch cutoff. If the compressor is still engaged the low pressure switch is bad. If its really a clog - you gotta have it evacced and refilled. |

Here's an A/C hose for an 06 Touring, but I'd call them first to make sure it's the right part. 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER TOURING A/C Refrigerant Hose
