Sounds like you haven't used the A/C over the long winter. It's always a good practice to run it once or twice a month for a few minutes to keep the seals lubricated. You could have lost a little R-134 over time also, that will drop the pressure and stop the compressor from coming on.

Thanks for your second reply; should adding freon solve the problem?

IF indeed that IS the problem, yes that will solve it but you should have it diagnosed by a professional. Some if not all air-conditioning shops will give you a free check to pinpoint your problem. If it was working before the winter and you haven't done anything radical like have a crash, then it's probably a minor fix.

not being a smart-ass here but did you push the a/c button....only because same thing happened to me this morning lol and I kept wondering why I am getting only hot air then realized I did not push the button for the a/c I only turned the switch to cold.

Once I stopped laughing at myself and pushed the button then it was like nuclear winter in my PT Cruiser, I was freezing.

Don't think I have an a/c button ('05 GT convertible?). The a/c is a knob you turn to the a/c setting).

No A/C button on an 03 either. There are two dials. The left most is used to tell it you want A/C. The middle one sets the temperature from boiling hot to cold. My A/C is down at the moment too. I believe there is a leak someplace because the same thing happened to me last summer. I recharged it and it worked for a month or so and then started to warm up.
