Sorry, was out all day with the Sheriff's office.

The reason I say that is I've always heard that with today electronics it's never a good idea to hook anything up directly to the hot side of either the battery or the positive post that your thinking about. If you should ever have to jump start the PT and the wires get crossed, it could mess up a lot of things. Putting it through the fuse box is just another way of protecting yours and the PT electronics..

By the way, why run the negative cable through the firewall when there's plenty of things you can ground your wire on under the dash. One less wire from one side to the other.

I wouldn't mind being out all day with the Sheriff's department, that would be fun. I need to send you a private message on this, way to off topic for this message.

Now back to the wiring. I see your point about hooking directly to the power source. In the past I've used an ATM blade fuse that I just pulled when it was necessary. I'll have to think about that a bit more. As far as grounding, yes, I can ground inside the vehicle. But especially for the radios, I'd like a ground to be as close the the battery as possible to help keep noise out of the modulation.

let me know where you ran the pos wires, I am going to run 2 4gauge wire kits for my 2 amps and thought that the post was a great place to put it. Do you think that the groument under the hood can take 2 4gague wires threw it?

I doubt the grommet that I'm seeing will handle two 4 gauge wires. I think two 8 gauge one will be tight but should work. If you have an automatic, their is supposed to be a plate attached to the firewall where a clutch pedal/cylinder would be installed if you had a manual transmission that can be unbolted, a hole drilled in the plate to run your wires through. That probably would be a better option for you. Ten years ago I might have crawled up under the dash and found that plate but right now my old body just doesn't feel that limber anymore so I want to take the easier way out when I can
