Default Fuel system cleaning

2nd owner, purchased at 45k, just had my 48k service. With no prior maintenance records from the dealer I'm just picking up the Chrysler recommended services straight out of the manual at the given mileage intervals.

Anyway, Goodyear gave me a recommendation to get a fuel system cleaning for $130.

I see no mention of this anywhere in the owner's manual. Is this something I should consider or is your standard $5 bottle of fuel treatment good enough?

Car runs great and I'm just wondering if this is another shop extortion attempt.

It's a way of making money at any of the auto shops. It's fuel cleaner under pressure but if your not having problems, I'd go with a couple bottles of Chevron Techron fuel additive, one per tankful.

I wouldn't spend that kind of money unless I was having some kind of serious fuel related problem. Even then, I would try something like SeaFoam which runs around $8+ a can.

Cool Re: Fuel system cleaning

A bottle of Lucas Fuel Treatment every oil change; and fuel injectors cleaned by the dealer at recommended intervals!

Thanks for the advice everyone... I am a fan of the Lucas fuel treatment and have used it previously... as said however I couldn't find anything in owners manual regarding the interval to get the injectors cleaned...

60k? With no prior maintenance records on the car I haven't done much to it yet other than pick up the services as listed in the manual. I changed the oil (synthetic) at 45k and 48k along with a tire rotation at 48k. I also just replaced a faulty downstream O2 sensor after getting 2097 and 0138 codes last week.
