yaris,

I don't think the transaxle has a drain plug, in fact I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

yaris I think you nailed it... i may have done just that - drained the tranny (manual 5 speed). Today I climbed completely under with the creeper instead of just reaching and as soon as I had a clear view I knew immediatly I had the wrong plug... d'oh. Not my first oil change either
Remove the one next to the filter and out comes 5 qrts of oil.

in this post a guy did the same thing...
Manual Transmission Fluid Change

I'll take any tips on how to fill this thing back up. Tomorrow I'll look for the filler plug as stated in the other post.

thanks again all... seems it may have been the old ID-10-T error

Well, I'm glad you figured it out, but did I miss something somewhere where you didn't happen to mention is was a manual transmission? It does make a difference.

you're right crewzin i should have mentioned it, i know all details are important. I don't post often but I do alot of lurking.

at 66k perhaps it was needed anyway - it was kinda dirty.

So how do I fill her back up? Any input is much appreciated! Gonna need it mobile by Wed, gonna rain - no bike - need the truck back from the wife.

Thanks again!

As far as I know, it's pumped in at the shop but I believe you can buy manual trans fluid in a squeeze type of bottle with a hose at the top and you can squeeze in the amount you need from a filler hole on the side.

It's been a long time since I messed around with a manual trans so things might have changed over the years.
