I had my 48k service last week and Goodyear recommended I get the fuel injection service for $130.
I didn't do it... I'll do it when the car actually needs it and avoid tossing money away on what I consider to be a shop ploy to rake in money.

Unless your PT is running ruff or sputtering and losing power, take Travis2k7's suggestion and don't do it. It's a money maker for the shop. Meanwhile there's brand name (STP/Chevron) injector cleaners you can put in your gas tank every once in awhile to keep everything clean and most decent brands of gasoline that you buy already have cleaners mixed in to keep everything running smooth. Chevron, Amaco, Shell (if you believe their advertisements) all are claiming to clean everything as you drive.

Make the shop a deal. If cleaning the injectors doesn't get your PT running better, you get your money back. If it works, they have a customer for life. Bet they don't take it.

i would try putting good gas Chevron, Shell, 91 octain and some injector cleaner befor taking it to the macanic, i got over 100,000 on my 2003 turbo, no injector problems, i believe it because we use good gass (NEVER ARCO)!!!! give it a couple of tank full to clear up.

NO, but they are selling you something that's in the neighborhood of $120 and telling you that's what you need to fix your problem. Shouldn't they be asked about what happens if you spend the money and it turns out they did it for nothing? They'll probably say "you needed it anyway". Of course we hear it ALL the time here on this forum about dealers doing exactly that. Throwing parts and labor at a problem only to find out it was something other than what they did. One female here on the forum had the transaxle rebuilt for about $1200 and she still had the same problem after she got it back.
