My wife swears that twice now when she walked past our PT, the doors locked automatically. She's a small woman, and doesn't stomp around (unless she's pissed off). Any ideas?

Some of the high end cars have automatic locks that senses the key fob when it gets near the car. Locks when you walk away, unlocks when you come close.
The PT does not, unless you bought it used and the previous owner has had some work done to it.

Thanks. The mystery deepens. It's a Touring Edition '06, and I bought it from Hertz. It only had 15k on it when we got it about 4 months ago

Hi, I just bought a 2005 Pt GT convertible, 50k. Just today I am having the same problem. I came out this morning and the car was unlocked, I know I locked it last night. Got in drove to the doughnut store, came out, it was locked with my key inside. Got it unlocked, drove to work 3 miles away. Went to the car 2 hours later, locked again with key inside. Unlocked it again and took the key this time. cam back at lunch, locked again. Luckily had the key this time, unlocked it, went to lunch, got out and decided to watch it. 10 seconds after I got out it locked itself, unlocked, locked, unlocked then locked itself. Tried this several times during lunch driving around. Continually does the same thing whether the key is in the ignition or not. I have a remote but not with me. Any ideas? The only thing that happened lately is yesterday it was raining hard when I went through a drive through. When I rolled the window down water runs off of the top right at the front of the window right above the door lock switch. Water ran inside the car and got the switch wet. I wiped it off and nothing happened yesterday. Any ideas, I hate to think what the dealership will charge for this.

Believe it or not I've actually seen this one before. What it was in this case was the unlock button was stuck on the keyless entry fob.
Needless to say, if it doesn't happen with the other key you've got it. If you don't have a spare key. Go away from the car with it locked. I think you may have to go a block away. I tried mine once that far away. |
