Default Diagnostic code reveals ...

... "442 A leak has been detected in the evaporative system!"

Could this be due to the universal locking gas cap I put on it?

I'm trying not to panic. I've only had Barney for about a month and I still can't believe "he" is mine!

Welcome.
Could very well be. Suggest you take of battery cable for a bit (resets check engine light), put back stock cap and see...

I'm on my way out to the garage to do it now. Thanks!

ETA: QSD's solution: effective. Thanks again!

I'm now in the market for a Chrysler-specific locking gas cap, I guess.

Nah just need a better quality one. It has to "seal". My aftermarket regular non-locking gas cap also gives me a code. The rubber is junk on it. No idea where to find a better one.

A search of this forum didn't turn anything up for me but, a Google search brought me back here to see that peeps are getting them from the dealer for $13 or so? I paid $20 for the one that didn't fit from WallyMart so, the dealer deal sounds pretty good to me.

I'm more impressed with Barney all the time - that onboard diagnostic thing is reassuring.
