Is it possible to activate compass?

Some years ago I remember I accidentially activate a clock feature on an '84 Camaro I had. I poked a hole in the radio and activated a clock was not a standard feature on the Camaro. The other day I noticed the covered whole for the compass & mpg (EVIC) system and got to wondering if there is a way to activate these features. I tried poking the end of paperclip thru the hole put nothing happened. Any techs here know any tips!

As far as I know EVIC is only on some of the newer 06-08 models.

"Also available on the 2006 PT Cruiser is a new Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), which adds functionality by allowing owners to customize and easily adjust their personal settings. Settings on the new EVIC include compass and temperature display, audio information, fuel economy, distance to empty and elapsed time."



I've got it on mine and didn't have to resort to any secret techniques, it's worked since I turned the key.

I believe the EVIC was an option inc. on the upgraded models like your Limited but not included in the base model. Just a guess, and may be a poor one at that, but I think a few features that are options are made unaccessible unless its part of the model or option package. Thier there in the car because its cost effective to mass produce it rather than make a different mold to accomodate less options as it goes down the assembly line........

Yeah I thought you had an '06 and just found it... picking up my '06 PT tomorrow!!!

My guess would be the Touring Edition without the EVIC option?
