Ok we can work this through.

1. Does the noise happen continuously, or does it come and go?

2. Does the noise only happen while the car is in motion? Or does it also happen in Park?

Welcome.
Is your A/C on? Try turning it off.

OK this helps. We can isolate it to the motor itself. Trannies (auto or manual) tend not to make noise, or if they do its isolated to a gear or it changes with different selections. No possible way its suspension, brake, or wheel related.

Best thing to do is open the hood and figure out which side of the engine bay its loudest.

In any event, the problem is likely to be a belt, failed bearing on an accessory (water pump/alternator, etc), glazed pulley or something like that.

Sounds to me like its coming from the left (passenger) side of the engine area ... but sense they cover EVERYTHING under the hood its so hard to tell where all the belts and pullys are.

Why cant things be fixed like they useto .... A can of WD-40 and a swift kick

That's a belt squeal.

All your belts, from your timing to your accessory belts are on the passenger side. Now the question comes, is it nearer to the front or the back, and top or bottom?

That greyish or black cover you see on the passenger side only covers the timing chain. The accessories, belts and pulleys (water pump, alt, power steering, etc) are all visible if you remove the passenger front wheel and then the splashguard. Its not too difficult to do. Then you can check belt tension and play on the pulleys.

Is there any other way to check than taking off the wheel?

Brant, if taking off the wheel (and undoing the inner fender cover) is too much, don't even try and mess around with the belts. Let a professional do it. The whole front of the engine is accessible from the right side. You can try and take the inner fender of without taking the wheel but it's a PITA. What's the big deal about taking off the wheel?
